DA random crash to desktop

DA crash to desktop. I have no idea why or how to fix this. I have the dual core optimizer, I have current drivers for my video card, I run in the minimum or higher 1024 resolution. None of my other games crash on me, just DA. The crashes seem to be random during gameplay. I also have my pagefile settings at the appropriate levels.

I read something about a bug report but have no idea how to submit one to this thread.

Hmm, I never had 1.6, I just recently purchased the game so 1.7 is all I have ever had. Was 1.6 more stable than 1.7?

1.6 is the current "final" patch and as such is going to be much more reliable. The release of 1.7 you downloaded is the first public test version--the final of it is still a ways off.

Unless you like life on the bleeding edge, or have specific issues in the last patch that a beta fixes, it's best to stick with the final releases.

Thank you devs for answering this thread. I've also been experiencing some random crashes with the latest version. I'm going to install the SE per recommendation and attempt to generate the report.

I actually didnt know i had a pre-release version (i have no idea whether i clicked that prelease button in stardock central or not).
